GETTING STARTED

Welcome to the Pearson Foundation's Million Voice Project. The Million Voice Project is asking one million students in grades 6 through 12 about school using the My Voice Student Aspirations Survey, a powerful tool for initiating innovative, meaningful school reform. The results from this initiative will provide educators with detailed student data, which can be used to improve teaching and learning.

Join us in improving American education. To participate in the Million Voice Project, simply follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Register

  • Complete the registration form. To ensure accurate results, only one survey administrator is allowed per school, so we strongly recommend that you identify the appropriate person to take charge of survey administration before registration.

Step 2: Survey

  • After your school is registered, a member of the Million Voice Project Team will contact the survey administrator to schedule your school's My Voice Survey. Your school will be provided with a two-week window to administer the survey. After confirming your school's survey administration dates, your survey administrator will receive an email with your school's unique My Voice Student Aspirations Survey link.
  • Once the link is received, your school administrator may immediately begin to distribute it to teachers so that their students can take the survey. The survey is anonymous, and the students need only the survey link to participate – there is no requirement for usernames and passwords for student participants. For a recommended communication guide and timeline, see the Administrator's Guidebook.

Step 3: Report

  • The Million Voice School Report will be emailed to your survey administrator approximately one week after your two-week survey window is closed, or otherwise, approximately three business days after he or she confirms that survey administration is complete. You can use the Million Voice School Report to improve teaching and learning for your students. For a guide to interpreting the data, see the Administrator's Guidebook.

Keep in mind that this public service initiative is not an evaluative tool; the intention is to allow school leaders the opportunity to reflect on their current practice and better understand their role in promoting aspirations throughout their schools. Your school's participation can make a difference, and, as always, we welcome your feedback.

For more information about how to register for the survey and administer it to your students, download the printer-friendly Administrator's Guidebook.

The aim of the Pearson Foundation's Million Voice Project is simple and one we all share: to promote academic excellence and, with it, fruitful and enriching lives for all young people. By enrolling your school and including your students, you embrace this goal.
